Don't know if it was comcast doing maintenance, my modem, or my router, but had a lot of idle clients this morning. fortunately, resetting the modem and router got me back online. Will probably be a light day due to lost folding time.

Got all my 240V cords from Stayonline. Really like their power strip.

http://www.stayonline.com/detail.aspx?id=7304

If they don't have what you need in stock, they can make it to order. They fabricated the main cord feeding my folders for less than my cost for just the components! And good customer service to boot. :D

ok, brief update.

got 2 systems that were half running back up to speed. hopefully they stay stable. each are 3 by 9800gx2, i'm hoping i can keep 11 clients going between the 2 systems.

3 by 295 system which is gloriously stable got cleaned, deshrouded, attached to some more fans.

4 by gx2 from work moved to apartment, hooked up to stove power thru 25ft extension cord which then splits takes each phase of the 2phase to 120V. waiting for dorm guy to add the box to the network.

2 295's (co-ops) w/ EK waterblocks right now running at stoc/1565 shader/stock, 4 clients going, apartment is 72F, GPUs at 44C. water loop is feser 120.2 w/ 2 YL high speeds in pull DDC 3.2 pump. there's about 5 extra feet of tubing in the loop. i've got better rads and fans to use so i don't imagine heat will be a problem for these...pulling about 34k, sometimes 34.5. this is the most work the enermax 1250w powering it has had in a while. pics soon (tho colin has 1 in his mailbox i think)

in tulsa, 2 systems running, the mobo in a third had died, sent a replacement to atlas, he had the system back up but it's off now. we'll see.

bedtime...

re: tulsa-seems like the main machine is down (all clients are stored on one machine-you just copy a set of folding files, point the new machine to it and start folding) so all 3 systems are down there. wrote atlas but he's been busy...

tulsa still down

4 by 9800gx2 system up here, testing GPUs after they got a cleaning. 4 clients running cool...

2 by gtx 295 under water now at 35.2kPPD across 4 clients, apartment 75, GPUs at 45/45/46/46 (downstream 2 hotter). man that's awesome.

the apartment has a big picture window which is mostly aluminum foiled to prevent greenhouse effect. the machines nearest the window get the most breeze (and also the most dust). the ones in the opposite corner (no air flow there) always run 5C hotter...

4 by gx2 nice and stable, but when that machine got added to the dorm list the water cooled 295 setup is now offline. one step forward, one step back :hit:

bedtime tho...

LOL thanks colin.

that's the machine that's back up. 9200PPD per GPU right now (@43C! i love it!!) set my environmental variable which helped a lot w/ the dual core on there.

only 2 of 4 9800gx2's recognized on one box, will have to re-fiddle and get out dummy plugs for encouragement.

other 3 by 9800gx2's running 5/6 clients each but are completing 97% of WUs across those 5. 6th client turned off on each (makes the others unstable-when they EUE the others shed their WU's too) not bad.

speeding ticket cost a used gtx 295. 42 in a 35. this is the only crime committed in palo alto. :rainmad:

more x58 work this weekend, plus i'll have to show the new fans i've got for summertime...

saw a guy's right half of his colon/right half of liver/spots from left liver removed today across ~6hrs. (colon cancer, metastasis). blood loss=under 1/5th a liter. the surgeons here are amazing. the emeritus professor standing behind me (who kept a runnign commentary for ~4hrs) said that the blood loss would be 6-8 units only 10-15yrs ago. ( :scholar: this should serve as a reminder to get colonoscopies if you're over 50 :scholar: )

Atlas should have everything back up over there. He has an IT guy now on it. my share is 12gx2's which should be going well.

10gx2 clients running at my apartment, 10295 clients as well. should hav time to get the other 2 gx2's wiggled into their pcie slots tonight.

back to operations...

as i mentioned to colin in an email, my upgrade plans are classified.

thanks to leftygof, power folder from team EVGA who retired and sold me some of this stuff for a song.

classy 4 way prepped for 260W tuned phase change, i7-965.

classy 3 way on air (getting a true copper and some deltas), i7 920 D0.

PS yes the apartment is such a disaster now that I have to put a cookie sheet over the sink to have work space. fortunately my wife is on call and at the hospital all the time and then just comes home and sleeps and goes back in.

tomorrow off

pulled apart gtx 295x2 water loop to toss into a MM pedestal and give it a radiator upgrade-feser 120.2 (wide spaced fins) to thermochill HE 120.3 (dense dense fins, good for the 3000 rpm 106cfm fans they're getting).

apartment an utter $%ithole. need to clean by the time the wife gets home from work tomorrow. i'm watching The Sting on the computer and putting armaflex on the rad. good times. :bigthumb:

Love the cookie sheet. Must be careful nobody bumps it...1/2" either direction and into the sink it goes!

Hope the cleanup goes well :)

water 295's at 1565 shader, air at 1484 (it's one of leftygof's)

should be back online now. i'm watching for leaks. now it's classified time.
